ABOUT
Shalom Nuhu is a UK-based photographer. She was born profoundly deaf which is why visual imagery is so important to her. Some of her happiest and most creative moments are when she is expressing herself through drawing or taking photographs. Despite living in the UK, She was born in Nigeria and still has strong connections with her home country. She has a passion for Nigerian culture, textiles and fashion design and she strive to use this in her work to create designs and photographs which draw on her experiences of Nigeria and the UK. She hopes to use photography to express and interpret the layers that exist within her cultural heritage. She wants to raise awareness of cultural diversity and, in addition, to find different ways of expressing herself and communicating her experiences as a member of the deaf community.
